#askpixelandink: Let’s get social

Social media for small business is full of myths. People think that you can get a lot of customers out of it, and it can be true, depending on the nature of your business.

Which social media should you join?

Your audience will dictate that. Generally, business to business Linkedin and Twitter are the ones. Google plus helps your SEO and to appear on Google maps, but don’t bother updating it a lot.

How often should you post?

Each social network has its own pace. Twitter is a fast pace network, a tweet has a life of 3 hours while Linkedin will have a longer life.

Facebook: 3-10 time a week
Twitter: at least 5 times a day

Linkedin: 3-5 times a week

Pinterest: 5 times a day

How much time should you spend on social media?

As little as possible is the answer. If your social media doesn’t bring customers, then don’t spend a lot of time on it. Tools like Buffer or Hootsuite can help you schedule your posts, so if you spend one big chunk of time (one or two hours) a week then you only need like 10 or 15 minutes a day to reply comments, participate in discussions and write reactive posts.

We hope this is useful. Continue sending your questions!
